Welcome to the Website of the

CLASSIC GUITAR SOCIETY OF MICHIGAN

The CGSM objective is to foster the love, appreciation,
and the use of the guitar as one of the great instruments of musical art,
and to bring together all those who share this conviction.

The Classic Guitar Society of Michigan (CGSM) was founded by noted guitarist and teacher, Joe Fava
in the mid 1950s. The membership comprises both amateur and professional guitarists who are encouraged to perform at
meetings. This is
a great opportunity to share pieces you enjoy playing, to play ensemble music and just talk with other people who
have a similar love for the guitar.  Many meetings also have a performance by a featured artist or ensemble.  The CGSM  provides a forum
where guitarists, and all who appreciate the guitar, gather together to play and  hear the instrument in a friendly, informal, salon-like atmosphere.
Meetings are usually held at 3pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month at Madonna University in Kresge Hall.  Check the calendar for exact
dates of the meetings and to see if there's a featured artist or ensemble that month. Admission is free to members and students.  All
are welcome.
Musical events are featured in the newsletter. Contact us below, if you'd like be on our emailing list to
